“I believe my social skills have significantly improved. I made new valuable friendships that still continue. By doing physical activity I gained muscle weight. I gained new skills – reading topographic maps and compass, which I could immediately try out on the field.”

“I can only say that the idea of the program is fantastic and I would recommend everyone to apply for OB courses. My experience is ideal, I realized what I need and what I want in my future life, also I met fantastic people, gained new friends and, most importantly I had fun. :D”

“Climbing was the best part for me becasue I find it cool how you have to believe in others and in yourself. What I liked least was the fact that we did not stay long enough to see and try more things. I learned that we should help each other and have confidence in people around us.”

“I would recommend this course to everyone, because it’s such an aberration from everyday life that you have to get out of this experience as a changed person if you embrace all the challenges given. I would definitely describe myself now, after the training, as more in tuned with myself and who I actually am.”

“I would recommend the program precisely because of the number of skills we gained here, such as responsibility, self-awareness and teamwork, that we do not develop in our everyday life. What I liked the most was realising the importance of teamwork, and what are my abilities and fears. I learned in practice the meaning of the verb ’empower’ “.

“I believe that a lot more of young people should be included in the program during the compulsory school program and during weekends. At the time that lies ahead, the skills that youth gain through this program, will be a key factor for the understanding of life in reality, here and now.”

Aleksandra Berberih Slana and Robert Berberih

parents of the participant of the course

“Immediately after his return home from the course we went to the mountains and noticed that thanks to this course he has developed some new skills, he became very confident when in nature. During the last years we haven’t seen he has so much patience when achieving his goals, and his way of thinking has changed. He became a team player, developed patience,he realised that to get something you need to try hard.”

Anđelina Jurčić

parent of the participant of the course

“I would like to say I am very pleased that the courses as the ones OB Croatia provides exist in Croatia because it was very interesting, useful and extraordinary experience for the children. Upon return from the course my chid was very pleased with the program (with its diversity as well as with possibilities of staying in nature which he was not able to experinece so far) but also with the instructors who responsible for the execution of the course. In particular, he pointed out the good preparation, the ability to communicate with young people and the possibility of transferring useful knowledge to young people by your instructors. He was also impressed with realising the possibilities of how to “survive” in today’s world without all wonders of technology and electricity we have today. As an importan positive aspect of the course he highlighted the constant reference to mutual trust (which was built through games or through teamwork) which is now unfortunately, less and less present in everyday life. Thank you for the opportunities you have given to my child and I look forward to future collaboration!”

parents of the participant of the course

“She did not mind the fact that during the course sleeping conditions, hygiene and nutrition were not the same as the ones she is used to, she accepted those conditions as a part of a course’s task and did not perceive that as a problem. All in all, Lorena was very pleased and it is our impression that the program was of great benefit, primarily to her general satisfaction.”

“Students are generally totally delighted, first of all with meeting new people with whom they became friends, so that immediately upon returning they formed a facebook group, and now regularly communicate.

“As a professional staff of the Centre we can only express our compliments for the program. In our view the program was very useful for our users, the boys gained new experience that strengthened them, developed their confidence and encourage to bravely face future life events. We welcome all the activities that Outward Bound Croatia is providing in Croatia, and the fact that our users have the opportunity to participate in this very meaningful and praise worthy projects. Our institution will continue to apply our users to participate in future projects, because these projects provide them with everything that is not possible to provide within the institution. Therefore, we express our complimets and gratitude for your work, and we are confident that you will continue with this work, and that our users will continue having the opportunity to participate in your projects.”

“I liked to observe how our students are changing while being in new situations, how they help and support each other. I would like to see this approach implemented in regular school curriculum.”

“I volunteered at the 8-day Outward Bound course. My motivation for participating was multiple. I was intrigued by the opportunity, of type of experiential learning that is still unkonwn to me, which will allow me to further expand my professional growth, and at the same time provide a visible feedback. The results exceeded my expectations. I’m positive that this type of experience would be useful to anyone working as a pedgogical worker for the purpose of professional development as well as personal growth regardless of their affinity when it comes to the way of spending leisure time. Althoough I have ten years of experience in education, I have not experienced such a rapid and effective learning effect (in a very short period of time), and enviable success in creating group cohesion by providing great responsibility to each individual. Upon completion of the course, these young people have become more mature than they were at the beginning. I think that the program should be implemented in every high school and institution engaged in education of children and young people due to the fact that the course provides them with extraordinary experience, enables development of self-esteem, fosters cooperation and mutual respect, all that without any preconditions and expectations of the participants except their own motivation.”
